The Cascade Country Cook-Off will be filled with great food, music and entertainment, craft vendors, an awesome beer garden, and features some of the smokin’est ‘Q on the planet! Competitors from all over the region will fill Stan Hedwall Park in Chehalis on July 7 & 8, trying to earn the local title and earn points for a chance at participating in the Jack Daniel's World Championship Invitational Barbecue in Lynchburg, Tennessee this October.
Cook teams showcase their mastery of the four quintessential core meats of barbeque competitions nationwide. This event is produced in partnership with the PNWBA and boasts over $5,000 in cash and prizes. Judging will be in accordance with PNWBA rules by certified judges and prizes awarded for each meat category. Local teams can compete as well, so start putting your team together now!
If you’re not quite ready for head-to-head competition, teams of two can sign up for the Pitmaster BBQ classes. Pacific Northwest Barbecue Association Champion Barbecue Pitmasters will teach you how to master great barbecue at home or for competitions and teach you the tips, tricks, and insider secrets of slow-smoked meats. This is a 12-hour, hands-on class held on Saturday, July 7th, so be prepared to end the day smokin’ ‘Q like a pro. Class participants will learn the proper techniques to cook four competition meats: Beef Brisket, Pork Butt (shoulder), Chicken, and Pork Ribs. Preparation, cooking and presentation of the meats will be covered in the class. More information about registration for the class or competition can be found at CascadeCookOff.com.
New this year to the Cascade Cook-Off is the Cascade Chili Cook-Off sponsored by Shop’n Kart that will be held Saturday. This brand new competition is open to everyone, has an entry of just $15, but a purse of $300 to the prize winners! Homestyle Chili is the name of the game, and the judges will be looking for the best Chili – beans or no beans. It can be your famous white Bean Chicken Chili, the Classic meat and gravy recipe handed down from your Grandpappy, or your secret “Blow Your Mind Bowl of Red” dish that the guys all rave about at the Superbowl. Bring it on.
