Cascade Country Cook-off 2007
Cascade Country Cook-off 2007 promotes the education and awareness of southern-style, succulent, slow-cook barbecue; provides a fun and family-oriented community event; and establishes a barbecue competition for Washington State. Proceeds from the event are equally divided between two children’s charities: Children’s Miracle Network (www.cmn.org) that helps pay for children’s hospital expenses, and Pope’s Kids Place (www.popeskidsplace.org) that provides day care, respite, medical and dental services for all children with a primary focus on children with special needs. Held in the Chehalis Wal-Mart parking lot, Cascade Country Cook-off 2007 & Classic Car Show is a two-day event with four parts: PART 1: BBQ Class (Saturday, 6am-6pm) SPACE STILL AVAILABLE Two-person teams are taught the basics of slow-cook barbecue methods by professional BBQers of the Pacific Northwest BBQ Association, and compete in the Chicken & Ribs category for non-cash prizes, and bragging rights for the Best Chicken & Ribs. The fees are $50/person (two-person) teams. Non-cash prizes awarded. To register go to: www.popeskidsplace.org and click on Events in August. PART 2: BBQ Championship (Saturday 12 noon-Sunday 4pm) SPACE STILL AVAILABLE Open invitational to teams from all over the world to compete for $5,000 total cash prizes and trophies. Winners qualify for entry into a drawing to compete at the Jack Daniels World Championship Invitational Barbecue in Tennessee. Cash purse of $5,000. PART 3: BBQ Sandwich Fundraiser (Saturday 11am-6pm & Sunday 11am-4pm) With meat prepared ahead of time by Badges, Brews & BBQs, Delicious BBQ sandwiches will be sold for $4 each. PART 4: Classic Cruisers Car Show (Sunday 9am-4pm) We’re expecting at least 100 folks to bring their classic cars for viewing and competition. Winners will be awarded trophies in their respective categories. Dash plaques are available to the first 100 registrants. Register at the event. Fee is $10/car.
