Dickens of A Christmas Weekend

Mark your calendar for the Annual Visiting Nurses Foundation ?Dickens of a Christmas? Weekend December 10th thru December 12th. Highlighting the weekend will be the 11th Annual Home Tour honoring ?Homes Celebrating Woman?s Suffrage? that are either owned by a woman or built in 1910. This is the 100th Anniversary of A Woman?s Right to Vote in Washington State. Christmas will sparkle among the antiques, décor, renovations and restorations of these gracious homes. A special treat this year will be the c. 1910 HubBub building that is owned by artist and businesswoman, Rebecca Stabler and the F.B Hubbard home that actually hosted a Pink Tea in Centralia. We also have the honor to include the Borst Home?s 150th Birthday Party Celebration.

Guests are invited to gather at the tour?s holiday headquarters in the Historic 1912 Tran Depot at 210 Railroad Avenue in Centralia where they will enjoy refreshments and cookies while being soothed by a variety of holiday musical entertainment to warm the heart. From the depot, attendees will be able to ride on a wagon pulled by Gwen Marsha?s draft horses, hop on the City of Centralia?s trolley, catch the van provided by Campbell Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep or drive your own vehicle.

A wonderful aspect of the tour is that while people are having fun and being filled with the spirit of Christmas, they will also be helping to fund home health and hospice care and programs in our community.

Again this year we are extremely excited to present events that go throughout the weekend!

Friday, December 10th-Movie at the Fox Theatre. Keeping with the suffrage theme watch Marlo Thomas in ?It Happened One Christmas?, the female version of ?A Wonderful Life?.

Saturday, December 11th?Dickens of A Christmas Home Tour. Of course, our traditional Dickens Home Tour will fill the streets with Christmas cheer as participants travel from the Holiday Headquarters to the Tour Homes and Buildings being amazed at the architecture and holiday décor. We have added a Christmas Bazaar at the Holiday Headquarters and a Dickens Dinner for Two at the Boccata Deli.

Sunday, December 12th?Victorian High Tea. Cap off the weekend at The Tea Cup in downtown Centralia for a Victorian High Tea. The exquisite teas, soup, finger sandwiches, scones and desserts will be the highlight of your day. We anticipate four sessions available at 12:00, 1:30, 3:00 or 4:30. Advance reservations are needed by December 8th to ensure a delightful menu.

This event is supported by Mistletoe Tree Farms, the City of Centralia and Centralia Hotel/Motels. Take the Amtrak Train, Stay at McMenamin?s Olympic Hotel and you won?t even need a car for the weekend!
