We are pleased to present the winter quarter concert of the Lewis County Community Band conducted by co-conductors, Louie Blaser and Karl Scarborough. Come and bring your family to this free concert of instrumental music at Corbet Theatre on March 11th at 7:30 pm. This concert is a continuation of the band’s “Half and Half” series and will feature the music of Percy Grainger and David Holsinger. According to conductor, Louie Blaser, these men are “two exciting and innovative band composers from the 20th century who are also unafraid of taking compositional risks.”
The program will include the following:
David Holsinger, composer: “On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss”, “Abram’s Pursuit”, “Havendance”
Percy Grainger, composer: “Country Gardens”, “Shepherd’s Hey”,“Irish Tune from County Derry”, “Children’s March”
Marches: “Military Escort” by Harold Bennett and “March of the Belgian Paratroopers” by Pierre Leemans.
If you play a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument and are interested in joining the Lewis County Community Band, please contact Louie Blaser at lewiscountycommunityband@yahoo.com or 360-330-7605 ext. 6102.
