We are pleased to present the spring quarter concert of the Lewis County Community Band conducted by co-conductors, Louie Blaser and Karl Scarborough. Come and bring your family to this free concert of instrumental music at Corbet Theatre on June 4th at 7:30 pm.
The program will include selections from the following: “Symphony No. 1” by Robert W. Smith, "The Klaxon" by Henry Fillmore, "Portrait of a Clown" by Frank Ticheli, "Military Symphony in F" by Francois Joseph Gossec, "The Wizard of Oz Overture" by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg, "Spring” from “The Seasons" by Antonio Vivaldi, "An Almighty Fortress" by David Shaffer, and "Double Happiness" by Joseph Curiale.
Smith’s “Symphony No. 1” was inspired by Dante’s epic poem, “The Divine Comedy” which describes an allegorical journey through hell and purgatory to heaven. The Lewis County Community Band has been conducted by Louie Blaser and Karl Scarborough since 2007. Karl Scarborough says, “Louie and I are so fortunate to have such a wonderful group to play for us - they make our job enjoyable, rewarding, and fulfilling as musicians and directors. We applaud our band members for their dedicated work and talents they enjoy sharing.”
If you play a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument and are interested in joining the Lewis County Community Band, please contact Louie Blaser at lewiscountycommunityband@yahoo.com or 360-330-7605 ext. 6102.
