Greater Lewis County Boy Scouts Celebrate 100 Years of Scouting At Benefit Aucti

CHEHALIS, WA - Come celebrate 100 Years of Scouting at the Boy Scout Benefit Auction on Saturday, March 27, 2010, at the Yard Birds Mall in Chehalis. The evening is open to Scouts, leaders and public participants at $20.10 per person which includes dinner. Silent and live auctions will be held to benefit the local scouting program and help to ensure Scouting is available to young men in our area for years to come. Social and silent auctions begin at 6 pm. Dinner and live auction begin at 7 pm.

The signature item of this year?s fundraising auction is a Henry Golden Boy ?Boy Scouts of America Centennial Edition? Officially Licensed rifle. To mark the 100 year milestone, this special rifle features the Scout Oath, Scout Law, scrollwork and traditional Boy Scouts of America logo embellishing the receiver, as well as a 100 Years of Scouting When Tradition Meets Tomorrow logo gold filled etchings in the buttstock and forearm. A goal of the boy Scouts of America is to help boys develop into honorable men. Scouting?s values can be incorporated into a boy?s home, school, and religious community, adding to all three and, in some cases, filling in where family, school or religious support is lacking.
In 2009, the Timberline District, which serves Lewis and south Thurston Counties, led the Pacific Harbors Council (8 counties) in cub Scout Growth with 311 registered Cub Scouts. The district served an additional 270 registered Boy and Varsity Scouts and 52 registered Venture Scouts.

In addition to the regular Scouting program, more than 6,500 co-ed youth were indirectly served at the Spring Youth Fair through an open ?day camp-type? experience that allowed both boys and girls to participate in activities such as rope bridge, climbing wall, pinewood derby racing, craft building and supervised bb gun range.

Show your support for Scouts and their impact on community and family. Please join us in celebrating a successful program in the Timberline District. For more information on the event please contact Lesa LeDuc at 360-508-0123 or Sue Muller at 360-262-9682 or by email at muller@localaccess.com.
