Planes, Trains and Automobiles will be held July 27 in Chehalis, with several local businesses participating in this fun-filled, family-friendly event.
Discover! Children’s Museum will partner with Chehalis-Centralia Steam Train by offering $1 off regular $4 admission with every steam train ticket stub presented on July 27 and 28. In addition, a train conductor in full conductor uniform will visit the museum to talk about trains and provide a photo opportunity. The museum will also have an ongoing paper airplane design and flying contest during regular operating hours.
The Chariots Car Club will hold its 6th annual car show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 27 in downtown Chehalis. Entry fee is $20 and includes free lunch at select restaurants. Dash plaques will be given to the first 125 cars, and there will be raffle prizes and goody bags. A merchant poker walk will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A pre-show cruise will be held Friday night. For more information, call (360) 388-8289.
If racing is more your speed, Oregon Rally Group will have a two-day RallyCross at the Port of Chehalis on July 27 and 28. The RallyCross will be Saturday and Sunday and includes individual automobiles racing against the clock around a course delineated by cones. Ordinary, street-legal vehicles divided into several classes will compete, with winners determined by the shortest time after multiple runs including any penalties for deviating from the course or knocking over cones. Young people ages 8 to 17 will have a free opportunity to fly between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on July 27 as Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 609 hosts a Young Eagles Flight Rally at Chehalis-Centralia Airport. Following the flight, each young person will receive a certificate making them an official “Young Eagle.”
Lewis County Historical Museum will host a pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday. The menu includes all-you-can-eat blueberry pancakes, eggs, sausage, coffee and juice prepared by the Lewis County Commissioners.
ARTrails Art Walk will also be part of Planes, Trains and Automobiles. ARTrails artists will have their art on display in Chehalis businesses starting July 22-24 until July 31-August 2.
Market Street Pub in downtown Chehalis will host a street dance on July 27.
