An entire day of entertainment and fun for the whole family!
Festivities begin at Borst Park at 7:00 a.m. with a free pancake breakfast (sponsored by Sierra Pacific Industries) and fishing derby for kids.
The "I Ran from the Cops" 8K Run or 1.5K Health Walk begins at 8:30 a.m. You can register in advance at the Centralia Police Department (118 W. Maple St.), or on race day ($20) beginning at 7:30 a.m.
Have you ever wondered what it takes to be a SWAT Officer? This is your opportunity to take the actual CPD entry level SWAT exam (run, push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups). You must pre-register ($20) at the Centralia Police Department to get a t-shirt, or you can register on July 4 beginning at 7:30 a.m.
Free musical entertainment, games for the kids, free hay rides, free trolley rides, horseshoes and cribbage tournament begin at 10:00 a.m. and continue until 3:00 p.m.
From 1:00-3:00 p.m. take a free tour of the Borst Home and One Room Schoolhouse, hosted by Retired Senior Volunteer Program.
$1 hot dog lunch (includes pop or water) will be available from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Then it's time to head downtown for the 4th of July parade which begins at 4:00 p.m. at the corner of Tower Ave. & Centralia College Blvd. A parade route map is available on the "Home" page of this website. This year's Grand Marshal is Ron Brown. Parade theme is ?Youth - Our Heritage and America's Hope?.
Destruction Derby tickets go on sale at the SW Washington Fairgrounds at 5:00 p.m. ($8 adults/$6 kids and senior citizens). Grandstand gates open at 5:00 p.m., and the Destruction Derby begins at the Fairgrounds at 7:00 p.m. The Bruce Maier Band will perform in front of the grandstands from 5-6:30 p.m.
Concessions will be available for purchase at the Grandstands.
After the Destruction Derby, seating is free for the fireworks show. Several special ground displays can only be seen from the grandstands, so plan to arrive around 10:00 for a fantastic show.
